Warning: This blog/ journal’s purpose is to document my first pregnancy for all of you, as well as for Garrett and I, and also for the baby to one day have. I am obviously not a professional writer, so if you continue to read you promise not to judge my grammar and/or writing skills. OK, here goes…
Week 4: Monday November 5, 2012
While getting ready for my boot camp class, I decide I should take a pregnancy test because things weren’t exactly “on time”. I took the test (which by the way… one of my medical offices told me to just go buy at the dollar store, because it’s basically the same test some Doctor’s use- this saved me some serious $$!) and let it sit for a couple of minutes while I finished changing into my workout clothes. At 4:55 am I looked at the test and saw two lines, which is equivalent to a POSITIVE! I started screaming for Garrett to wake up and come and look. (He’s obviously not happy at this point, since everyone knows Garrett HATES early mornings.) His mood quickly changed when he saw the test. We started hugging and jumping (jumping mostly on my part) with excitement. Baby Pounds was officially on the way!
Since technically you’re supposed to wait until at least 12 weeks to be in “the safe zone,” to officially announce the pregnancy, we knew it was going to feel like an eternity. So we decided to do things our way…
On Tuesday: We told Garrett’s Mom, Dad and Sister over the phone, who all live in Texas, and sharing the news in person wasn’t going to be an option any time soon anyway. They were all very excited for us and for themselves too!
On Wednesday: We told our friends Ryan and Alissa- Mostly because I wasn’t going to be able to make a January Girls weekend in Las Vegas that we originally had planned (don’t worry Alissa is still going, there are about 10 girls going on this trip!), and felt that I owed it to her to let her know in person ASAP since we were supposed to book flights together that day. Luke, their one-and-a-half year old, got scared with all the excitement and yelling when we broke the news to them. :)
On Saturday: We told my Parents, Omar and Susi - it seemed like forever for those days between Tuesday and Saturday to come! I tried not to speak to my family very much on the phone that week, since I was afraid I would slip. To top it all off, Susi told me she had a dream I was pregnant around Thursday of that same week…apparently she’s psychic! My nervous response was, “Oh Susi… I didn’t know you wanted to be an auntie so badly.” I think I told most of you, but we broke the news to them via cupcakes with mini toppers that said “Grandpa Mohamed, Grandma Pita, Uncle Omar and Auntie Susi” along with other small little clues. They were mostly in disbelief since I would not entertain any baby talk whatsoever. It was pretty exciting to see all of their reactions!
