Week 19:
It feels like the baby has grown quite a bit in the past few
weeks, along with my belly! I can still fit into my pre-pregnancy work pants
with the help of my bellyband to help them stay up. They definitely don’t
zip-up even a little bit so I’m officially wearing pregnancy clothes most of the
time. It’s so much more comfortable, and I’ve starting finding what fits best,
favorite stores, etc. In addition to the growing baby, the next most exciting
part has been beginning to feel him kick!
I was out with
my Manager for two days and the second day we met with another co-worker for
lunch. She guilted me into buying two Girl Scout cookie boxes, aka the devil. I
usually have a healthy afternoon snack in the car but since I was busy working
with my boss I totally forgot about it, by the end of the day I was starving. I
came home and didn’t have dinner ready…. the cookies were calling my name.
Before I knew it, I had eaten 5 cookies! Yes, 5! Sugar has obviously started
tasting good again. Garrett ended up picking up some salads for dinner, but by
the time we were hanging out after eating, the baby was kicking like crazy!
Garrett was even taken aback by how easily he could feel him bouncing all over
the place. It felt like some serious karate chopping going on in there. Needless
to say, I never ate that many cookies again. My guilty pleasure is now having
4-5 peanut M &M’s a day (not every day) and that usually gets him kicking a
bit, but nothing compared to that first kicking frenzy!
Week 22:
I can’t believe I’m already at 22 weeks, and officially starting
my 6th month! The only negative part has been that my back has
really starting acting up. It started about two months ago, but the pain was
more manageable back them. My sciatic nerve has been really painful especially
after about 7pm, it could be that I spend a lot more time in the car now with
some territory changes we’ve had at work. I have to ice it when I get home and
if I don’t use my pregnancy pillow for support, the pain keeps me up at night.
Sadly, this has changed our plans to have our baby moon in
Paris :( Hawaii, Mexico or maybe a nice local resort maybe a better choice, since
walking all day long and/or spending a ton of time sitting on a plane isn’t ideal
at this point. The goal is to go somewhere warm, with a pool that will help take
some strain off my back!
Garrett has also started taking “Daddy classes” at the
hospital where I will be delivering. (Mom’s are NOT allowed.) It’s taught by a
male nurse, who was formerly a bouncer, has three kids and drops the f-bomb all
the time. Garrett found him both informative and entertaining. He has three
more of those to attend and is looking forward to them.

Aww, you look great! Love the new blog! I can't believe you can restrain yourself to 5 cookies or 5 m&m's. I do not have that much self control :)
