Moving
I don't think I've officially written about this on the blog, but I'm very proud to share that Garrett was recently promoted! <3 He's been offered different positions, and things just haven't "worked out" in the past. We were aware that Bakersfield was eventually going to open up quite a while ago, and that it was a serious option for Garrett. I WAS NOT excited about it....fast forward to this summer.
A position on the east coast became available with Frito, and they were very persistent that Garrett "take" this opening. On our drive to L.A, right after Williams birthday, we decided it was a good move for us as a family. However, I did tear up a little because William has enjoyed being around most of his family so much his first year, and I knew our future little one(s) wouldn't have that, and that made me incredibly sad.
There were other things I was nervous about. I worried about flying 6 hours each way with possiblly two small children on my own, the weather seemed terrible, and living in snow has never really been too appealing to me. Nothing against the East Coast, but I'm a California girl and the thought of enduring extreme weather and having to wear 10 layers to run "quick" errands with little ones seemed completely unappealing!
Luckily...the same day Garrett had to give an answer about the East Coast position, Bakersfield officially became open! Seriously, they were ready to fly us out East to check out the area, which in Frito terms means it's basically a done deal. So...maybe this was God's way of making me appreciate being able to stay in Califronia and to only have a 3 hour car ride, versus being 3,000 miles away. Bakersfield is about population 400k, and has things like Nordstrom Rack, Williams Sonoma and Banana Republic...it's the simple things, right? No, but really, the school in the area we're looking at buying in has some pretty high ratings. There are many Mommy groups, and we may even be able to join a country club that will be in our "hopefully" gated community. Even-though this isn't my first choice...you all know that would be the Bay Area, I'm kind of excited to be so close to the central coast, and L.A. Especially with my sister Suz being at UCLA, and one of her good friends being at UCSB- both have offered to babysit W if we ever decided to go and visit. HELLO, yes please! And I may even see some Disneyland season passes in our future, we are technically So-Cal...who knew!? So have I sold you all on Bakersfield yet? If so, come and visit anytime! We would love to have you :)
Back to the little guy...
William had still been having some texture issues with some food, so I started doing more sensory activities with him. Here he is with some feathers :)

Garrett and I made steak and frites one night and the three of us actually really enjoyed it:)
Loves flipping toys over, and this time he dragged it all over the house too. Of course, Garrett thinks he's a future engineer because ever since forever he is curious about the bottom of toys and what they look like from different angles, including flipping them.

At first William was a little taken aback by his Uncle Carlos' Halloween costume, but he warmed up quickly and they got back to having a great time together in no time!

VIDEOS:
The videos were just so touchy depending on what device and browser people were reading the blog on, so I created a playlist and update it everytime I blog a new post.

Meal times! Having lunch "al fresco" at the broadway plaza fountain, and polishing down some of Abuelita's lentil soup.
Having some fun at Buy Buy Baby.
Getting cuddly with a way-to-big-to-actually-buy-it-for-him teddy from costco.
Hanging at the outdoor area in Stockton, where they have some nice fountains and shops.

He's a little obsessed with these organic fruit leathers from trader joes. Definitely a rare treat since they're a little high in sugar.
Running around with his toy doggie.
Look at how much counter space the bottles take up! I don't even know what to do with the all the extra room now! :)
The nutribullet doesn't just make delicious shakes, it's also one of William's favorite "toys."
Hanging at target and getting ready for Halloween.
Cooking with Grandpa Mohamed.
He NEVER does this, but today he decided he no longer wanted to wear his pants and threw them on the floor! Ha
Getting pumped for the world series in their giants gear.
We attended the frito company picnic at six flags, marine world. The carusel wasn't a huge hit, but the mini train definately was! William cried everytime it came to a stop.
Hanging in Daddy's Giants hat.
Loves making as many toys as possible a hat.
Raspberries! He loved them on this day, and this day only :(
Crafting at the disney store. They had some cute hats for halloween.
Loving the lime!
Enjoying the train at the park.
Cuddles and TV time with Daddy
Enjoying some adult time at the Ducks game with some college friends. Duck fans were everywhere! Even at the San Ramon In-N-Out on the way home after the game.
Posing with Auntie Suz on her 21st birthday
He seriously LOVES this train at the park. David and Diego were in town so they came too, along with Grandpa Mohamed and Abue Pita.

Halloween!
Morning walks enjoying my favorite trail, during my favorite season.
Met up with Kathy and MacKenzie at an adorable little family cafe in Walnut Creek. The kids had a great time playing with all the cute toys, and Kathy and I got to chat :)
Hanging at the Broadway Plaza starbucks.
William's favorite toy area at my parents' place...the tupperware drawer.
Kathy and MacKenzie go to a kids gym in Walnut Creek, so I took William to see if he would like it, and it was an instant hit!
Taking a morning walk in Walnut Creek, and sipping on some jamba while enjoying the fountain. We also started to play a game where William would get a leaf off the floor and throw it in the fountain. He was super excited everytime he would run back with a leaf, unlike the poor person who had to clean the fountain!
Enjoying the slide more and more!
Interesting choice for a pillow...
Bundled up for a chilly morning walk.
Kathy and MacKenzie invited us over for some home made whole-wheat hot pockets, so yummy! Kathy made the dough and everything! William was obsessed with the cats, Jeremy's lunch bag, and the cute alphabet magnets on the fridge. Him and MacKenzie had a great time running around and sharing cheerios. So not to get sappy, but I thought it was going to be a while before William got to have anything pizza-like because of his allergies. Thanks to Kathy, he had a nutritious hot pocket with pizza sauce, sautéed veggies and meat, that was dairy free...made me happy :)

Haircut #3!
William is beyond spoiled with the temporary living situation at my parents' place. Exhibit A:My Dad brings him freshly baked baguette home almost every morning. W LOVES IT! His favorite is the heel, since it's extra crunchy and feels nice on his gums.
We had our Christmas photos taken, and W looked so cute in his little plaid shirt and jeans that we let him run around in it for a while. He looked like a mini Garrett :)
Loves building a semi-fort with the stools in the kitchen.
