MONTH 17:Part 2, MONTH 18: Thanksgiving and Christmas... and.... WE'RE PREGNANT!

William is Now Officially 18 Months!

So much has happened in these last couple of months, here is my attempt to catch everyone up, first up the pregnancy!

Saturday, October 4

Garrett has been back and forth from Bakersfield the past couple of weeks and I'm not going to lie, it's been tough. I am very much a creature of habit, so I don't really love big changes like this.

So it was Saturday afternoon, Garrett had just gotten home from a work trip back from L.A and I told him things were a little "off." Which to be fair, had become my new "normal" post-pregnancy, since I'd been pumping up until the last month and a half. I told him I had a pregnancy test upstairs but didn't want to get my hopes up, and that I was going to wait until the next morning to take it. Garrett was like, "Wait, what?! That's ridiculous, just go take it now." I explained that the hormone it's testing for is the highest in the mornings so I just wanted to wait for it to be accurate. Long story short, he convinced me to just go take it. William was waking up from his afternoon nap, so we both headed upstairs. I gave W a quick good- morning- from- your- nap-kiss and headed to take the test. Gare came in and cuddled with W, changed his diaper and read him some books on the glider while he finished fully waking up. (W has it rough, right? ;)

So I go do my thing and go hang out with W and Gare as the test sits to get results. I think Gare and I really didn't want to get our hopes up. We had recently decided that if it didn't happen this month, we were probably going to hold off until next year...for multiple reasons.

I headed to the bathroom and couldn't get myself to look at it too quickly. When my eyes finally focused on it, there they were... two faint lines...we're pregnant!

I yelled "oh my god" and told Garrett and W we were expecting. My eyes had quickly watered at this point from excitement and I could see Garrett doing the same. W started to clap and say "yay!" Haha. The three of us were very excited!

7 Week Side belly shot, and Garrett's pregnancy Selfie???

I have to say, I don't remember the first trimester being this rough! Before officially finding out, I noticed I couldn't go complete "beast mode" on my work-outs and I didn't understand why...obviously the pregnancy made sense. So I worked out pretty hard up until about 5 or 6 weeks, because thats when we found out. I don't know if it's mental or what the deal is, but the nausea and fatigue hit almost immediately after that point.

At the beginning, I was actually losing weight since everything looked soooo gross. Eating made me nauseous and not eating made me nauseous, but NOTHING sounded appetizing. Feeding William was like cruel and unusual punishment, since food handled by a toddler was even more unappealing. I even threw up this time around, which I didn't have happen at all with William. The cravings, or maybe I should say, the things that rarely sounded palatable have been the same the same though- although, I'm not sure they're really cravings. Anything spicy, Mexican, Italian or Mediterranean was yummy, other than that..ew.

In trying to look at the glass half full- I guess it's been a blessing in disguise that Garrett is in Bakersfield during my first trimester. My Mom has been making sure there is good, nutritious food available for William and I most of the time. Which is HUGE! I think if we were on our own we would both be eating toast, fruit and chicken nuggets 24/7. That's just not good for anyone! I also get some help with W here and there. I don't have to look, let alone cook raw food or smell it! Yuck!  I don't feel as guilty laying on the couch like a worthless human being because of feeling so sick.
I also think it worked out when my energy is low, and more importantly, when Gare's not here for my 1st trimester mood swings- can't say the same for my parents. Oops.

William drinking ginger ale and pretzels with me...sympathy snacking?

I don't know if it's possible for William to know already but he has been extra cuddly with me. Maybe it has to do with the many changes we've been adjusting to...who knows, but I'm not complaining :)

11 Week Belly Shot:

14 Week Belly Shot: William's photo bombing :)

Thankfully, my hanging out on the couch days have been minimized. My energy is still not 100%, but at least I don't feel like I'm going to vomit 24/7. William and I have been able to go on morning walks every now and then, and I can even help put dishes away now that I can handle being in the kitchen a little more.

18 Weeks!

Big Gender Reveal
My OB in Modesto told me the blood test to find out risk factors, (and gender) was going to cost $1000, so we were like...we're good. But since we're in the bay area most of the week I changed my OB to  a more local Sutter in Orinda. She told me the test would be at most $190, if my insurance didn't cover any of it...well, that was a bit more doable. So, without asking Garrett, or telling anyone else I got the test done :) I only told Garrett that I did it, and we decided it would be a surprise for both of our families on Thanksgiving since everyone would be together. I couldn't decide how to do it, so I ordered some prissy cupcakes from Kara's in downtown Walnut Creek and had them filled with the color of the gender...and...I had some buntini's from the "Nothing Bundt Cake store. (I couldn't decide.. So I just got both!)

Aren't the yellow baby carriage toppings super cute?!

I love everyone's faces, including William's :)

It's a GIRL! Yay!

Little Helper?

William "helping" my parents put up their Christmas Tree in time for my Sister Susi to see it during Thanksgiving break.

Fun with MacKenzie

Hanging at Hap Maghee with MacKenzie and Kathy :) William was obsessed with chasing down some balls, and a group of kids were nice enough to lend them one. So the two played chase with the ball for a bit. It was actually a nice day out.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving morning, we realized that William wasn't going to be able to eat any turkey since it would probably have butter all over it- obviously not dairy free. So my parents spoiled William and made him a cornish hen that morning with Olive oil so he could have something that looked like a mini-turkey :) We took it to my aunt's house with some steamed veggies.

Hanging out on Thanksgiving evening with his Daddy, and Barkley who was visiting from L.A :)

Gym time with Daddy

The two had a good time in class together. William usually has class on Thursdays and since Thanksgiving was on a Thursday we moved it to the next closest day and Garrett got to go and do the activities with William. They had a great time!

Selfie with Auntie Susie :)

Visiting William's Great Grandparents: Harry and Edith

Harry and Edith gave William an early Christmas present which he loved! He also enjoyed playing with their tupperware, (it's like toddlers can smell where it is in the kitchen or something) and looking out there huge kitchen window at all the cars. Grandpa Harry helped William play with some toy cars, and Grandma Edith tried to squeeze in hugs every chance that she got. We had a great visit with them.

Had a good-bye lunch with some of my sorority sisters (totally forgot to take a pic!) and Ryan hung out with Garrett while I was gone. Alissa came over after too, and William wouldn't leave either one alone. He loved hanging out with them:)

Watching Home Alone for the first time and loving it!

Like Daddy, Like Son

MacKenzie and William eating popcorn and pretzels while they watch Charlie Brown's Christmas. They both definitely prefer the pretzels!

Out to Breakfast with my parents for Guadalupe's Day. Thank goodness for these half and half creamers, they kept William occupied!

Hanging at the Disney store with a Mickey that was almost W's size!

Loves rolling up his pant leg, LL Cool J- style. He's been doing this for a couple of months, I just finally got a picture of it.

The Blackhawk Santa is known to be the "best" since there are never any lines, so my friend Kathy and I met-up to take MacKenzie and William. Unfortunately for us, Santa was on what seemed like an eternal lunch break, and there was definitely a line. W was above actually standing in line with the other children so he decided to go up and down the ramp next to the line, while the rest of the children patiently waited I where they were supposed to. Thankfully, MacKenzie and Kathy saved a spot for us. William, along with most toddlers HATED santa, and all I (and the other moms) could do was laugh. Poor guy(s)!

Santa was "okay" as long as it was from a distance.

While waiting for Santa, we fed the ducks :)

Outtakes of my attempt to get a good picture, courtesy of Kathy.

Final product:

Hanging out with Loli and David at a tamales dinner :)

Garrett planed a very sweet SF holiday weekend for me and one of the stops was the SF Symphony. It had such a pretty view of city hall, that I couldn't resist playing tourist for a sec...doesn't get old.

At the Faz house for Pozole night...yum! Playing with a very well taken care of train set that my cousin Jose Carols got as a child. My Aunt and Uncle still put it around the Christmas tree, and William was mesmerized!

Christmas Eve: I had a different outfit planned for William, unfortunately it  no longer fit him! Thankfully, Grandpa Rich and Grandma Doris bought him this beautiful sweater as part of his Christmas present and he looked very handsome in it!

William hanging with Diego and David, all looking very handsome!

Obsessed with ornaments, but he's pretty good about not grabbing them.

Enjoying his present from Santa

Hanging out on the patio area in PF Changs. We had dinner with about 26 Egyptian friends and William was not happy he couldn't go running out in the street.

Thinks he found a way to escpae!

Foot massage from Auntie Suz...must be nice!

Hanging out with Daddy at the Blackhawk Plaza playground

Attention Target Shoppers, William throws a tantrum if you don't let him play with everything in sight!

Hugs with (Abue) aka Grandma, although he's secretly buttering her up to steal her glasses!

On our way to Cheesecake Factory (great for kids since it's so freaking loud!) for dinner with my parents, Suz and Garrett. We stopped in Panera to get William his own ciabatta bread loaf since he can't have any of the cheesecake bread. One has egg, the other has milk :( He loved his ciabatta bread though, and enjoyed flirting with the cute high school girls in line behind us :)

William's true love at dinner: Bacon (There were originally 4 pieces here! We decided to not give him all of it since it might be a little too heavy.)
