This months Blanket:
The Fisher price jungle play mat from his jungle gym, is the blanket of the month. This has been a consistent love in his play collection, and I'm sure I will look back with fond memories when I come across it, well after he's grown out of it. He still likes to crawl across it, and occasionally still pull on the zebra's little tail, or other little details on it.
Here are the many faces of William at 8 months. You can see his brand new top teeth in some of these, he was being a "little silly one" during these pics :)
Allergy testing
Still doing well with solids, although the pediatrician recommended he get an allergy panel before I start giving him table foods, because of what happened with the allergic reactions to formula and rice cereal. In the meantime, I am upping his fatty fruit and veggie intake like avocados, carrots and bananas. He really hated, and I mean HATED avocados the first time he tried them. It's really been the only food he hasn't loved, but I ended up pureeing bananas with them and he's been chowing down on those really well..yay!
Man on the move!
William is completely attracted to every little space, tunnel or crevice that he can squeeze himself into. I'm seriously worried he's going to get stuck one of these days. Luckily, he's been crawling behind furniture mostly, so when he can't move he starts talking loudly (screaming?) for help and I just move whatever object he's behind! Yikes!
Attracted to our Wine/ Beer fridge?? (Takes after his Daddy ;)
Chasing some wires
Again, after the Wine and Beer Fridge!
Also doesn't hang out as long on the jumparoo as before, so when he's out exploring he loves checking it out from different angles.
Following me to the kitchen...
I meant to take a "before and after" picture of his play area throughout the day. This is obviously "the before," let's just say the after wouldn't really fit into this same picture.
Door to the bathroom downstairs: he is secretly hoping I leave it open one of these days, he checks almost daily.
Practicing moving around on all fours:
Little guy mostly crawls with tummy still on the ground, but he's getting better and better on getting around with tummy off the floor. He also loves to climb on top of me if I'm on the floor playing with him, and has started trying to pull himself up on things..yikes.

First visit to SF:
We were in the city a couple weekends ago and it was a GORGEOUS day! We took a stroll through the palace of fine arts, and then got some dessert on Union St. It was seriously around the mid 60's at around 6:30, after sunset. What a great first visit for the little one:)
First international Trip!
I think our first trip to Mexico went as smoothly as it possibly could have gone. My pumping, and lack of sleep were the two biggest draw backs, but I made it work. William was lucky enough to have a seat for his car seat to sit in on both legs of the flight, and we were traveling with a lot of family so it was really nice to have support, physically and emotionally. Ha :)
There was another baby on the flight to Mexico, and the Mom brought her over to say hello. The baby girl was pretty cute, and not as wiggly as William. He kept trying to grab her face, and Andrea later told me he kind-of poked her eye...yikes. That's one of his things lately, not poking eyes, but touching faces. He likes to feel noses, cheek, etc. I was pumping, so I couldn't really see what was going on. In the video below you can see the mom touched William's cheek too, which I wasn't be super happy about. Oh well, both babies survived. :)
Ps- the short video of these two cuties interacting is at the bottom, where I usually post all videos.
Hanging out at my Grandma's house. Pic's courtesy of Auntie Andrea :) Pictures of Uncle Omar (my brother) and Mama Rosita (My Grandmother) with William.
Party Time!
We were lucky enough to have a wonderful Nanny set-up in Mexico. These were the first two nights we left William with someone besides immediate family. As you can tell, we had a terrible time! ;) (I have to confess that I did text and call to check in on him. Probably normal for a first-time mom. Thank goodness for all the Mexican relatives' cell phones- and for the tequila that eventually helped me relax! Ha:)
Two William-less :( events- we probably needed it though!

Quincinera on Saturday
Hanging out before the 15th birthday Mass with family.
My Mom, Uncle Juan Diego and Aunt Loli gave us a ride back to my Grandma's house to drop William off for bed, before we officially headed to the party. Below are some fun pics.
Uncle Juan Diego's 50h Birthday on Sunday
The next day was my Uncle Juan Diego's 50th birthday, and my Uncle Temo and his family hosted a celebration at their beautiful new house. More mariachi of course! Thankfully, William wasn't scared by the noise level and was actually quite entertained, the violinist's were his favorite. He seems to be growing out of the stage where loud crowds and noises scare him....we've come a long way from the Thanksgiving melt down!
Tortas!
We went out to have some traditional Mexican Tortas on Monday before visiting my Grandfather, and then heading to the airport. This was William's first time sitting in a public high chair, of course I wiped it down pretty good with my disinfectant wipes before he sat in it :) He seemed to have a great time, and then went down for a nap in his car seat while we got to eat. He looks like such a big boy in these pics!
| I'm a little obsessed with his chunky little feet :) They remind me of what my feet looked like pregnant, except mine weren't cute! |
Visiting My Grandfather:
The last stop before catching our redeye was visiting my Grandfather. As many of you know, he was the main reason we decided to make this trip happen. I was overjoyed to have them meet, and I know it meant a lot to my Grandpa too :) This is actually the second time they saw each other, they first met at the Mass two days before, but I wanted to make sure they got more one-on-one time together. So glad we made it work!

Hanging out at the airport before our flight back home
I think we were all really glad we went on this trip, but we were equally happy about going home.
| "No more pictures lady!" |
Loving the sports center Auntie Andrea bought him! :)
Hanging out at Hap Maghee park
Patiently waiting for the baby swings to become available. He was loving watching all the little ones run around while he sat with Grandma on the bench. Such beautiful weather!

Happy 1st Valentine's Day!
Grandma Doris is so great about keeping William stylish during the holidays, so thanks to her he is sporting this adorable shirt! William and I went on a special valentines day walk during the day, and then Gare and I made a fancy dinner at home. I guess William enjoyed the chocolate bread pudding I made too- through his milk the next day :)
Meeting Baby Olivia and Visiting Peaches
Our friends Dave and Monica gave birth to Baby Olivia in December, and we finally got to meet her this weekend! She was such a sweet little one. I held her for a bit, and she ended up falling asleep on me...so cute! It seems like forever ago that William was that tiny and tiny and would actually hold still!
Peaches wanted to make friends with William, and I think he was open to it. She kept getting a little close, and William would just touch her cute face and gently push her away, it was really sweet. Then Peach tried to claim William's blanket after we were done changing his diaper on it, ha. Makes me wish we had a dog, but at this point we will probably wait until we're done having kids and they're old enough to help take care of it. In the mean time, we can enjoy our friends' adorable little doggies, like Peach :)
Not Your Average Teething Toys
I'm sure most Mom's agree, the thing babies (and probably children) want the most are not exactly baby toys. William is obsessed with a couple of things he's not supposed to chew on. These aren't super shocking: My cell (or any other iPhone he sees), the remote and my large-and-in charge water bottle.
Here are some pic's of his fave "non-toys."
Letting him chew on a measuring cup after having solids. He loves the rubbery side of it :)
Chewing on his bumbo
Chewing on his "mini-me" water bottle, like mine:)
Learning to wiggle his tongue to feel his new top two teeth!
Enjoying his mini slide at home
Baby Food!
I've also really gotten into making his food here at home. I will buy pouches for on-the-go, but I really don't mind making his food. Today I'm making him some ground beef, with carrots, and butternut squash that I have cooking in veggie broth in the slow cooker. Garrett said he would actually like some of William's food for dinner tonight, ha.
Thanks to my awesome friend Kathy for referring me to the smitten baby website, I love the recipes and techniques on this blog!
Here are some pics of carrots and yellow squash I made this month.
Ready to go - out of the freezer! :) Garrett initially thought these cubes were a new addition to the bar, and was really excited when they first came in the mail. Little did he know I had some serious non-alcoholic plans for them, they've been prefect!
Umbrella Stroller!
Remember this posh little umbrella stroller I won while pregnant?
Well, I finally got to use it yesterday, and William really liked it. I think he felt liberated not being in the car seat, and kept kicking his legs and waving his arms. He had a great time! I have to say I did appreciate the larger stroller a little more after this walk. This one doesn't absorb shock nearly as well, and also his toys fall easier. We almost left Sophie behind! Still, it's nice that it's so light weight, and I love the spf 50 canopy :)
Crib Shenanigans:
As part of starting to finally baby proof the house, we lowered William's crib to the very bottom. I don't think he cared in the slightest, because the pack 'n play that he sleeps in when we're in the Bay Area or just traveling in general is that low, so he was used to it.
He has also recently started to pull the cord on the baby monitor so hard that it causes it to fall, it's happened twice now. Where all I hear is the camera all of a sudden fall down with a loud thump and then the screen goes black. Well, as you can imagine I sprint upstairs with my heart pounding, and thankfully the camera flips back away from him and onto the floor. He usually has the cord in his hand. When he sees me get up there like a manic, he thinks its hilarious! Of course, his laughing is contagious and I start cracking up with him.
That camera is going to be moved this weekend for sure! My heart can't handle that kind of stress!
Lastly, here are some videos from this month

Chatting, possibly yelling away
Attempting to turn on yellow ball
