William: Month 2 - Nursery, more visitors, more smiles and poop

William is 2 months old today! (Wrote this yesterday) Here are his 2 month pics. It was hard for me to consolidate, so just keep scrolling down for some of the months highlights:

Never enough milk!

At the beginning of the month, William went through this phase where we would give him a bottle but couldn't get it into his mouth because he would swing his face side-to-side really quickly with his mouth wide open. It kind of reminded us of Animal, from the muppet babies. As much as I would have liked to record this madness, it's almost impossible to hold him, and his head going all over the place, and to take video. He doesn't do it as much anymore, but when Garrett is home I'm still on the look out with the video camera.

Lately, he has minimized the whole "animal-like" movement and his new "thing" is to be sleeping all cute in the middle of the night and grunt every now and then, and then full on start crying like he's been on a hunger strike his whole life and  just then, decided to break it! Even my alarm clock going off late during finals week in college didn't cause me this much anxiety and quickness to get the hell out of bed! Hopefully my abs are somewhat benefiting from this, and that it's also a phase! We have now learned that once the grunts start, we warm up his bottle, just so it's ready to.

Warning: Poop Ahead!

For some reason, our poor little guy has some seriously explosive poop. Yes, explosive. What I mean by that is that is has quite a bit of power when it comes out... it pretty much comes out flying. Things have gotten much better now for the most part. Every now and then he still gets us, but at the beginning of the month there was almost no escaping it! He also loves to greet his Daddy from work by pooping very loudly in his diaper as soon as he picks him up. Something about Garrett gives William the need to seriously go!

Here are my two favorite stories:

Garrett and I were changing him in the pack n' play downstairs, this was a couple of days after he was circumcised, so we liked to both change him together to make sure everything was ok. Anyway, this time I guess we were taking too long to change him, and he wasn't happy about it. All of a sudden he started grunting really loud and out comes his explosive poop. It came out with such force, that some of even hit the netting on the side of pack n play! Needless to say we had to completely sterilize William and the pack n play down after that little episode. These monsters inc clean up suits are seriously what I wished we owned for this scenario and the next one...

The other "incident" that happened, took place when Garrett was up changing him in the middle of the night. William had a dirty diaper, and Garrett had him on the changing table. William had to sneeze and Garrett feared the worst since he was in the middle of changing his diaper, so he put the diaper over William in case something came flying out. Well that little diaper didn't stand a chance against William's all-mighty poop. It hit the diaper, flew over the diaper and hit the basket next to the changing pad and all the diaper changing supplies in it! All of a sudden I heard "Oh Come-on!" followed by some laughing. Maybe the laughing was coming from me? I think Garrett laughed after everything was cleaned up. Ha.

Here's a picture of the changing table to give you a visual of just how far it went. (More pictures of the nursery are below)

Grandma and Grandpa Pounds come to visit

Rich and Doris were nice enough to come help us out for a week this month. It was so nice the have them over since they spoiled us with dinner every night and even took the 5/6AM shift so Garrett and I could get some extra sleep. We definitely missed them after they left!

We've also had some other visitors drop by this month. Depending on the amount of sleep I had gotten, I do/don't have pictures taken with everyone who has been nice enough to stop by. Please don't take it personal- I love you all equally! :)

Kathy visiting from New York and making time to stop by to meet him! :)

Kristin: between you being pregnant, and me being recently pregnant, we forgot to take one of you with him right after this cute pic with Natalie.

Nursery pics

The nursery is  still not fully done, but 90% of it is- so I figured I should just post pictures. I should have taken a before and after. This room was where we threw things in that we hope would "disappear" when we closed the door- ha. Now... we spend a ton of time in it. Mostly at weird hours of the night, so either Garrett or I (whoever is not on shift) can sleep in our bedroom.

The other night, one of our neighbors threw a party, and they were still hanging out outside until 3-5AM. I thought it was so ridiculous. As I was feeding a very hungry William, I thought to myself "Why on earth would anyone voluntarily be up at this hour?!" It was at that moment I realized I was officially getting old.

Pic of entire nursery, courtesy of Suz' iPod touch. :) The closet and entrance are behind me. I tried brightening this picture but it's still a bit dark.

William's view of the pom-poms :)

The fabric pom-poms that hang above the glider took way longer to make than I had originally planned for. I like the way they turned out, but every time I would look at them when William was first born, I would think about how much freaking work they were and how I would never do it again! Then, one night I was sitting on the glider feeding William and all he did was stare at the pom-pom's and he gave me the first, of many, gummy smiles while looking at them. That made it all worth it, and now I'm so glad I put all those hours into them! :)

I wanted to decorate the walls with something practical and this seemed to work out. William also got quite a few books as gifts so this was a great way to put them in a special place:)

It seemed like the obvious choice for me to use a wall decal above his crib, since I think I would be too paranoid if something was actually hanging above it. A special thanks to my Uncle Carlos and Uncle Juan Diego, who along with Garrett, and Loli supervising all 3 of them- got this up perfectly! :)

Cute video that captures him smiling :)
Note: I think most phones will not play this, it has to be on a laptop or desktop

Vaccines on Tuesday

Even after getting four shots and his little chubby legs being a little swollen, he's still a happy little man! I also took pictures in this onsie because every time, seriously every time he wears it he poops so bad it goes up his back- every time!  It might be the last time he wears it.

Some more pictures, for those of you that have been requesting them... :)

Asleep with his white noise machine- I swear this helps him sleep longer. It was a gift from Sarah whose little ones also love it! :)

Dancing around on a Sunday morning. William loves when we sing to him, and if he needs to be burped we sing and dance. Probably would have never..ever.. done something so ridiculous if it wasn't for the big smiles he gives us when we're doing it.

Sleeping on me after eating- so cuddly!

The next couple of pic's are of him in his new onsie his Grandma Pita brought him back from Mexico. He was extra happy this morning :)

William's little mullet. He has a ton of hair back there. Some is starting to fall out, but not this part.

Baby Mullet :) Much cuter in person, I promise.

Baby Hair :)

Finally figured out how to get him to sleep in the MamaRoo!

Camera flash went off on his face, poor guy! I took this one right before the one below it. A bit dark, but better on his face- much better!

Mr. Smiley

Dressed up to watch the Niner game with his Dad! Onsie was a great gift from Aunt Erika :)

Hanging out with his little wrist rattle that Kristin got him. :)
