William's First Month- More hospital pics, visitors, photo shoot & two videos

Happy One Month!
William is exactly one month old today! Everyone is right, a baby will change your life completely. With the exception of the complete lack of sleep, our lives have been changed 150% for the better. He definitely keeps us on our toes, which makes the day fly by. And when it's 3 in the morning, and we feel like zombies changing and feeding him, he throws us a big toothless smile (probably doesn't even know he's doing it) and it makes it all worth it :)

Here's a little look back at his first month out of my belly!

Leaving the hospital
Our stay in the hospital seemed extra-long since I was admitted without being dilated at all, and didn't have him until the following morning. The hospital also prefers for patients to stay two nights after delivery, one night if everything is going extra well. At times it seemed like an eternity of being away from home, and at others I was grateful I was still around medical professionals who could answer every single question we had, and still keep an eye on the baby. Plus, the food was really good :)

Here are some additional hospital pic's that Suz recently gave me:

William's first photos
I wasn't sure if I even wanted to have newborn pictures taken, but it ended up working out for us to have them done by Janelle White, who also did our pregnancy photos. I have to say, I'm really glad we had them done! She came over to the house and had all of her wonderful equipment and props with her. Which was really nice and convenient, since the pictures were taken when he was 5 days old. Way too soon for me to want to leave the house!

Garrett ended up holding a sometimes naked William for the poses, and so it was inevitable that our precious little one would end up gracing Garrett's shirt with a Bellagio-style fountain of pee! Not only that, Garrett came over a couple minutes later with his hand cupped saying this time William went #2! It was all yellow and watery in Garrett's hand...ew! It made us both laugh though. I guess it's true when they say your own child's bodily fluids don't gross you out as much as anyone else's would. I can't imagine thinking we would be laughing if either of those fluids came from anyone else besides our newborn baby! Ew.

Just got pee'd on, and as a proud new parent, is OK with it:)

William had a couple more little "accidents."

I have attached some of the pictures below. If you would like to see them all, here's the link:

The Amazing Houdini

Garrett and I were ready to swaddle the baby 24/7 because that's what we were trained to do in all of our classes, and read about in the baby books. However, William had his own agenda, as I'm sure many babies do. He often huffs and puffs and wiggles his way out of a very snug swaddle, and then gets all upset about it. We've learning to compromise.  Sometimes, during the day we let him stretch out when we can keep an eye on him, instead of keeping him swaddled. That seemed to be working out ok, until yesterday when he was sleeping during the day, I turned around for a second and when I turned back around he was sleeping on his side! It seriously scared me! So no "free time" anytime soon again, until he has a little more control of his movements!

I was terrified of cutting his nails the first couple of weeks, since it's common for a bit of skin to get cut along with it and make their little finger(s) bleed :( I think I would cry along with him if I did that! So these little onseies were a lifesaver, and protected his face from his dagger nails. I have since gotten over it, and cut his nails without making him bleed, phew!

One of his many diaper rampages where we change him and before we can close the diaper....he pees again...or goes a little more (or a lot more) #2, or both... We are now experts and change his diapers pretty quick. We've still had some close calls though. I think the fresh air makes him want to have "to go."

Nice and swaddled

He likes sleeping all stretched out sometimes

Worked his arms out... so strong:)

Caught him sleeping on his side- takes after his parents on this, but still a bit scary.

Caught a smile!

Loving sleeping without a swaddle again

Get your hands up! He's ready to go clubbing in Vegas! :)

First Baby Visitors!

Nick, Sarah and their two daughters, Addie and MacKenzie stopped by. This was William's first baby friend visit! Hopefully there will be many play dates in the future for these two. Baby MacKenzie was also at my baby shower. She is photographed at 9 weeks below, William is 3 weeks. Such a big difference in 6 weeks, it's exciting!

MacKenzie is nice and composed, while William is passed out and showing off his many chins. Maybe that translates into some sort of baby flirting sign language??

Showing off  the guns for the ladies :)

Miscellaneous Little pictures:

My goal is to have more frequent, shorter posts, but you guys have to cut me some slack for the next month or so. Garrett and I have definitely been in our own little Baby William, sleep deprived, diaper- filled world the past month, and I can't imagine Month 2 being full of much more sleep! People tell you to be prepared for the sleep deprivation, but I'm pretty sure it's impossible to ever be ready to sleep an average of 3-4 non-consecutive hours on average a night. I hear it gets easier with the second child- please God, let that be true!

Sleepy after finishing his food:)

Wonder where these cheeks come from? ;)

He does a face where he looks like the baby at the end of Zoolander, this is almost it. The camera didn't fully capture it.

One of my favorites!
