WEEK 25-28: Stork tour & Babymoon

25 weeks:
March 25th-
Today Garrett and I took the "stork tour" at the sutter hospital in Modesto where we plan to deliver. It started off with a very informative mini lecture by one of the nurses, followed by a walking tour of the actual delivery rooms. I thought it would make me feel better to get aquatinted with the facilities and my future surroundings, I was mistaken. Some people hung out in there.... and were sitting on the couch.....taking it in... not me. I was in and out of there, which is also the plan for the day I go into labor.

You would think I would have learned by now that the saying "ignorance is bliss" probably originated in pregnancy. A couple of weeks ago,  one of my pregnancy apps had a "video of the day" showing a woman getting an epidural. I thought, "Well, I should see it because epidurals  are somewhat controversial, and if I decide to get one, at least I'll know the process, etc." Big mistake. Not only did it show her getting the epidural (which didn't look too bad) the video proceeded to show the full live birth up close and personal. I mean you were seriously close! It gave me instant diarrhea.

Sometimes it's best to just not know, or at least not watch a close-up of it. Ugh

26 weeks:
April 1st-
I had my pregnancy 2-hour glucose test today to make sure I'm  free of gestational diabetes. I'd heard this test was awful, so I wasn't super excited about it. I got there at 7am, and as the phlebotomist was taking my first round of blood, (first of three) she was nice enough to let me know there was a bed in the corner with a curtain that she could make up for me if I got tired.   So she told me to chug the bright orange sugar filled drink and they'd call me in an hour to take more blood. That hour felt like forever! I brought my work laptop to get some work done in between the blood work, but the baby kept kicking and making my laptop jump on my stomach- he was going nuts and I was ready for a nap. Apparently the juice has opposing effects on the Mom and Baby. So after getting more blood work done, I took her up on the offer of the bed until they had to draw blood for the last time. I fell right asleep! I don't know what I would have done without that bed. I felt so bad when I walked out and saw a fellow pregnant lady uncomfortably fast asleep on a waiting chair. Apparently, her lab tech was not as accommodating  as mine.

April 2nd-
Started physical therapy today and now I have a very sexy belt I wear around my waist to help with loose hip joints (totally normal in pregnant woman) that sometimes pinch my sciatic nerve when I walk. It looks like a boxing championship belt, but unfortunately without all the pretty stuff on it:)

The driver seat of my car also now looks like a torture chamber of foam, but I am a bit more comfortable when driving. Thankfully!

28 weeks:
Suz's sign for the week :)

April 16th-
Today I turn 28 weeks (about 7 months) and according to all of my apps and books, I am officially in my third trimester! Some said it started last week, some this week, its confusing.

We have been on our babymoon, on the beautiful island of Kauai for about a week now and we go home tomorrow:( It's been really nice to just hang out with Garrett stress free of work, nursery planning and baby planning in general. Whoever came up with the whole "Babymoon" concept is genius!

My pregnant back has been loving hanging out in the pool and lounging in the lazy river! Plus, there have been many naps, lots of papaya and pineapple eating, along with my guilty pleasure Lappert's ice cream. Delicious!

Our most adventurous activity was definitely taking a helicopter ride, big shout out to Kurt and Bonnie from Island Helicopters :) The picture of me below is in front of one of the most beautiful waterfalls that was part of the Jurassic Park movie. They're actually the only company allowed to land in front of it, to go check it out and take some pictures. One of the couples got engaged right in front of it, I'm sure it wasn't the first or last time. I was a bit nervous going on it with the pregnant belly I have going on, but it was an extremely smooth ride. So smooth in fact, that the baby didn't kick once during those 80 minutes. I'm pretty sure it rocked him to sleep because lately he loves kicking, summersaulting and whatever else it is he's doing in there hard enough to get my attention. I thought we were being pretty adventurous with going on this ride being about 7 months pregnant, but the next load of passengers consisted of a baby that was probably about 6 months old. He had his little safety belt on around his little waist and everything. We later heard that kids under 2 years old fly for free, and that the vibrations and movement of the helicopter usually puts them right to sleep. Good to know :)

Taking a quick pic after the ride was over, you can see our awesome pilot in the background.

It hasn't been super easy getting into my pregnancy tankini and walking around with baby on board, but I keep telling  myself that I refuse to be one of those self obsessed woman who agonizes over weight gain. He's healthy, I'm gaining the recommended amount of weight, so I'm going out there in my over priced tankini damn it! There were plenty of other preggers around too, and some were even in bikinis... which I would never have the courage to do, but good for them!

Hanging in the pool. I felt so good in there I even shot some hoops (water basketball) with Garrett

On our way to dinner at Roy's..yum!

Hawaiian Luau

As you cam see from the above pictures, depending on the pattern of my clothing, and angle I can look a lot bigger, or smaller- just depends. Some people do look over,  and/ or slightly stare because I am pretty pregnant.  I thought it was maybe just in my head until the following happened:

Gare and I had just finished an early dinner and we thought we could walk around the shops and cute little places around the restaurant to help digest. Along our walk, we stopped in to buy some noodles to float-on in the lazy river. When we came out, we passed a little hot dog shop and this little girl, who is probably about 7 years old or so, sees my pregger profile, stops shoving the giant hot dog she was eating in her mouth and with her mouth full of said hot dog yells to her parents (whose backs were to me) "wow, look...look!!" and points at me, over and over while jumping. My jaw dropped. Garrett offered to whack her with the noodles... I was seriously tempted to accept.
